What to expect?

From the legacy of Constructivism to the iconic status of Tatlin’s Tower, the influence of the Russian Avant-Garde still reverberates in contemporary design and culture. Now one hundred years on from the Russian Revolution, it’s hard to overestimate its impact. In this event, award winning architect Boris Bernaskoni discusses the influence of the Avant Garde on his practice and the world of architecture today.

This event began with a presentation from Boris Bernaskoni, which introduced some of his past and current projects and the impact of the Russian avant garde on his work. Following this there was a chaired discussion with Dr Natalia Murray, art historian and curator of this year’s Russian Art exhibition at the Royal Academy which explored the architects’ work, the ongoing legacy of constructivism and the social role of contemporary architecture.
