Unfolded Textiles with Jule Waibel

Create your own folded garments and textiles in this unique workshop by textile designer Jule Waibel.

What to expect

How can the simple act of folding create beautiful garments and textiles? Gain a unique insight into the secrets of Jule Waibel's Unfolded Universe in this hands-on workshop.

In the first part of the session, participants will be introduced to traditional techniques of paper-folding and creating steam-pleating molds. You will learn how to apply these traditional methods to different materials and experiment with it.

In the second part, participants will have the opportunity to develop their own pattern and create a 3D structure with folded textiles. Studying their geometry and behavior will enable you to turn all pieces into a kinetic object to take home with you.

Over the course of the day, you will also have the opportunity to visit the Design Museum’s current exhibition, Azzedine Alaia: The Couturier, for insight and inspiration.
