For teachers looking to explore what’s going on in the world of design the Design Museum’s inaugural teacher conference offers a deep dive.
Keynote talks from designers Henry James of InvtenID, whose Sunny Money SM100 light was designed to replace kerosene lamps in countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and Emma-Jayne Parkes, co-founder of Squid London who use hydro-chromatic paint to bring an injection of colour to a rainy day through colour changing umbrellas, rain macs and more.
The day also features introductions to the collection, chances to learn about new practices and see design thinking in action make up an informative and fun day all round.
The day includes break out sessions and a chance to see the Design Museum’s temporary exhibitions: Beazley Designs of the Year and Ferrari: Under the Skin.
Featuring over 1,000 objects, Designer Maker User is an introduction to the history of contemporary design through three interconnected roles - the Designer, the User and the Maker.
