Object Casting workshop

Cast your own functional and wearable objects by merging traditional techniques with new and unique materials.

What to expect

Taking inspiration from the forms, colours and textures of the Loewe Craft prize finalists, learn how to cast with this step by step process that allows you to create your own uniquely functional or wearable objects.

This three-hour workshop celebrates modern craft by exploring a relatively new and intriguing material Jesmonite. Known for its use as an architectural building material, it has more recently been adopted by artisans to create jewellery, homewares and furniture. You will learn to work in three dimensions by extruding and multiplying geometric shapes to create multifaceted and curved form moulds. You will then experiment with the introduction of casting fillers, pigmentation, relief, terrazzo and finishing techniques.
