Curating Contemporary Design MA
Now in its tenth year, this collaboration between Kingston University and the Design Museum has grown into one of the world’s foremost MA programmes for design curators. Through its partnerships with prestigious cultural organisations, the programme offers students the opportunity to curate live projects and build their own professional profiles. With curating briefs set by the British Council, Architecture Foundation, British Museum and the V&A, students develop their curatorial practice and build their portfolios. The programme has international collaboration at its heart, and offers students the opportunity to become part of a wider, ever growing international network of curators.
Prospective students should hold a good BA (Hons) degree in a relevant subject or have equivalent experience. Research proposals at MPhil and PHD level are welcome.

24 December 2011 - 9 January 2012
Karishma Rafferty will join 450 other young people for a train journey that will last 15 days and cover 6,000 miles travelling the length and breadth of India to look at new design projects. The Jagriti Yatra (‘awakening journey’ in Hindi) will visit 13 different destinations. The train leaves Mumbai on 24 December, returning on 9 January 2012, having travelled as far north as Delhi and to Madurai near the country’s southern tip. Experienced design professionals will be giving talks and at each stop, the passengers will visit people who are already working on solutions to their country’s development and youth unemployment problems.
