PRODUCT EVALUATION WORKSHOPS
Aimed at Key Stage 4 and AS/A2 level students, our Secondary Product Evaluation Workshops can also be modified for students at Key Stage 3. Based on a unique product handling collection, each workshop is a one hour hands-on session, combining observation, product handling, drawing, discussion and problem-solving.
Choose from the following Secondary Product Evaluation Workshops:
Mystery Products
Unusually designed products, the function of which is not immediately obvious.
Chairs
A diverse selection of folding chairs to demonstrate different collapsible structures and ergonomic considerations.
Lighting
A range of modern domestic lighting, featuring functional through to ambient designed products.
Graphics
Innovative product packaging that explores a wide range of graphic design solutions. Teachers can choose from chocolate box or perfume/aftershave packaging collections.
Eco Products
A range of ingenious products which highlight and explore the importance of sustainable design.
Textiles
A stunning collection of contemporary fashion and domestic textles which explore innovative print and surface decoration techniques.
Mobile Phones
A collection of iconic mobile phone handsets which highlight key product design developments and ergonomic innovations within the fast moving field of communications technology. The Design Museum’s mobile phone collection and teaching resources have been generously donated by schools mobile recycling company Foneclub.
OPTIMUM CREATIVITY WORKSHOPS
Devised to maximise students’ creative skills, these innovative workshops mirror and explore the design process as used by design industry professionals and can be classified as ‘Work Related Learning’ for students studying on the new Creative and Media Diploma.

Supernatural
Taking inspiration from a special nature inspired handling collection, this workshop explores how natural forms can be used as a key part of the design process.
Target Practice
Explore how we live, work and interact with design in our day to day lives through character profiling, product analysis, designing and discussion.
- Workshops take place daily in three time-slots: 10.30am to 11.30am, 11.45am to 12.45pm and 1.30pm to 2.30pm
- Minimum of 10 and maximum of 30 pupils per workshop
- Price per pupil: KS3 + KS4: £4.50, AS/A2: £6.50 (Please note that from January 2011 the price of KS3 + KS4 workshops will increase to £5 per pupil.)
- Teachers are admitted free
