BRIT INSURANCE DESIGNS OF THE YEAR STUDENT COMPETITION 2009

Thank you to all the young design enthusiasts who entered this year’s competition, we have been consistently impressed with the high standard of entries received.

Judging for the shortlist and overall winners was completed and the final awards presentation took place on Monday 7 December at the museum with almost 100 guests attending. Design Museum Director, Deyan Sudjic opened the event and certificate giving by Helen Charman, Head of Learning to all 40 short listed designers. The four runners up and two overall winners were announced by Design Museum curator Alex Newson and Eleanor Lewis from Brit Insurance.

Winner 14 - 16 years: Oluwa Tofunmi Onaeko, London
Runners up:

Ann Barber, Cambridgeshire

Winner 17 - 19 years: Lucinda Anne Spraggs, Hampshire
Runners up:
Noah Carter, Essex
Will Verity, Gloucestershire

MLA LONDON CREATIVE WORK PLACEMENTS 2008/09

As part of the MLA London Creative Work Placements, and with support from Learning Links, teacher Jenny Hayens and two students from Haggerston School worked with the Design Museum to develop two learning resources to support the new Creative and Media Diploma.

Two prototype booklets were produced in collaboration with graphic designer Carla Matoses with the aim of taking a closer look at professional practices within two areas of the Creative Industries.
