Analyse Your Practice

The Design Museum is delighted to showcase creative work produced during the first in a series of new, collaborative design projects with HE design students from UK Art and Design Institutions.

The first project was run with students on the new MA Graphic Design Communication course at Chelsea School of Art and Design. Using Design Museum exhibition Alan Fletcher – 50 Years of Work (and Play) as a direct source of inspiration, students were set a brief entitled ‘Analyse Your Practice’. The brief encouraged them to examine and evaluate the creative processes which drive them and their working practice, and to visually communicate their findings.

The slideshow showcases a selection of students’ work as follows:

Luke Ebbutt – James aims to challenge the role of the audience, encouraging direct interaction by inviting the viewer to unravel the pencil drawing – although the starting point is deliberately hidden.

Asli Kalinoglu’s explores the act of translation. Her research and outcome explores the relationship and dialogue between an object and the viewer, original and a copy, the author and the reader.

Alexandra Antonopoulou analyses the design process. By mapping her processes in a three dimensional form, she works to re-assess, test and construct new processes behind her work.

Llima Cole aims to make scientific research methods understandable for the layperson by exploring alternative systems to illustrate and communicate dense, scientific information for public educational purposes.
